Starting Monday 29th May 7:30 pm EAST and going over the next two weeks, one of the worlds greatest motoring events. 5 days of practise and 6 days of racing averaging 130 MPH on a 37 mile road circuit. Will cost you AU$43 to watch all the action.

Gladiators only.
No Simps or people confused about their gender.

Always amazes me the accuracy of machine placement, level of concentration must be exhausting in the extreme.

Definitely no place for the faint hearted! I've spoken to a few Sidecar riders and swingers and they say it is a must do. Sadly, Dwight Beare lost his life whilst competing in the sidecar category in 2016.

I watched most of the free practise session last night.

The Superbikes are already lapping at an average of 131 mph, times set by Hickman and Harrison both favourites to take out the Senior Race.

Also enjoyed watching the side cars average speed 126 mph favourites to win are the Crowe Brothers and Birchall Brothers.

There is 8 races this year so plenty of action to be watched.

Only a 5 klm difference between the sidecars and the superbikes, that is insane. The sidecars are limited to 600CC's. Two people (Rider and swinger) on a bike that has a minimum weight of 135kgs. So a total weight potentially upward of 270 kgs.

For those who are not familiar with the sport of sidecar racing, the rider and swinger have no audio communication between each other. There is just an incredible amount of trust between the two when racing. The rider who pilots the bike and the swinger who climbs/moves all over the chair wheel platform and rear drive wheel fairing of the bike to keep it balanced during corning etc. The swinger is not strapped/tethered to the bike in any way.

I have got the side car average speed wrong, its not 126 mph its 119 mph which is still fast.

Below is the fastest laps for all the categories:

While on the side cars Callum Crowe was injured after clipping the wall at Laurel Bank in the first qualify session. Callum suffered some bruising and had a few stitches in his leg. Crowe brothers missed the second qualifying session and are back for the third qualifying session.

Qualifying/practice has finished with Michael Dunlop setting the fastest lap (unofficial) around the mountain circuit on his Superbike of 135.5 mph.

The Birchall Brothers are nudging 120 mph on their Sidecar so we could see some new lap records set in the next six days or racing. There has been no rain this week so loads of rubber has been laid on the road so we should see some quick times as the riders push each other.

Live racing coverage starts at 8:00 pm EAST on Saturday 3rd June with Supersport race of 4 laps followed by the Sidecar race of 3 laps

Col,

Ditto boleropilots comments.

Loving the sidecars.

I am a little biased towards the sidecars. No1 son was the part of the winning 2017 Australian F1 championship. He was the swinger for the team.

First race is now run and won, The first Supersport race

1st Michael Dunlop
2nd Peter Hickman
3rd Dean Harrison

Michael Dunlop now has 22 TT's to his name, with only John McGuiness on 23 TT's and Joey Dunlop on 26 TT's ahead of him. We could see this order change as the week goes on.

The man has no fear!!

Be interested to see what he has tested positive for?

I finally got to watch all of the Sidecar Race as I didn't manage to stay awake for the entire race.

The Birchall Brothers have cracked the 120 mph average speed so they have a new lap record.

Results for the first side car race:

1st Birchall Brothers
2nd Founds/Walmsley
3rd Holden/Vasseur

Crowe Brothers had a DNF

First Superbike race has been run & won. Results below

This win makes Michael Dunlop level with John McGuiness on 23 TT's. It is possible for Michael Dunlop to equal or even win more TT's that his Uncle Joey.

Here is a list of the most TT wins:

Also another record that could be beaten is the most number of TT's in a year. The record is 5 from 5 races which is held by Ian Hutchinson and was set in 2010. Michael Dunlop has won two from two with another six races still go. There are 8 races in total this year.

There is a rest day for Monday, so the action will be back on, on Tuesday with the Superstock (3 laps) and Supertwin (3 laps)
