I have just purchased some 16 lenses for the back. Now I may, or may not have wasted my money on them, but has anyone had experience cutting them up before?

as you can see, the reverse segment is orange and not white.

Mostly the reason I am asking is that this has appeared on ebay:

Hmm, I didn't realise but the left side looks as if the reverse lense is red.

Looks red.. where did you buy them from? Some countries received red or amber reversing lights. In Canada and US the lights were red and the reversing lights in France in late 60s and early 70s were yellow and later orange, just like they had the yellow front lights because white lights were not legal.

That left lens almost looks like the inner segment is purely a reflector, rather than a lens.

Anyway, everyone knows that all REAL R16's have "diamond" shape taillights with seperate glass reversing lamps :D :D

You have an option there, you could rig up a better reversing lamp system...like the original 16's.

I must admit having cracked a few diamonds pushing my 1968 16tl....back when I was just little. I reckon the original diamond lenses were better looking...suited the styling better.

cheers!

The left lens with the reflector is from a R16 TL (71-) Only the TS model had reversing lights. The one with amber reversing light is most likely from France where white lights were forbidden.

On the old model R16 (65-70) did you aussies have amber or red turn indicators?

Hello again Magnus,

All the Australian cars had amber turn indicators. I found some new R8 lenses once in USA and discovered theirs were red. Very disappointing!!

Hello david,

We have them new in stock! Price 14 € a piece.

forgive me for dumbness, but...

anyone know what 14 € is in $AU ???

he is located in the Netherlands.

They have the Euro, so I'm guessing Euro.. which would make it 20 AUD or less I guess.

Yea I would say your right.

I think the language barrier is becoming a problem dealing with this guy tho.

have done, thanks. Anyone else needing any parts that aren't easy to find in Aus, let me know and I can add them to the parcel.

John,

Some R8 tail lights are being advertised in Japan (yes, Japan).
Look original Renault parts and have amber lenses.
