GrandDisplay of FrenchCars
Sunday 02 July 2017

Murarrie Recreation Reserve

Wynnum Rd, Cannon Hill, 8.30 am to 3.00pm
Whether your car is brand new, older but excellent, just average, ‘oily rag’ condition or even a ‘basket case’, then you should display your French car at the Grand Display of French Cars! If your car is in ‘Concours’ condition, then there’s a special competition for you!You don’t need to be a member of the Citroen, Peugeot or Renault Car Clubs to participate! Also, all French marques are especially welcome, so if you have an Amilcar, Bugatti, Cottin et Desgouttes, EHP, Farman, Gregoire, Hotchkiss, Induco, Janvier, Krieger, La Lincorne ……. or even a Le Zebra, you’ll be made very welcome.
An entry fee of $10 per displayed car applies.

A $10 surcharge applies for the ‘Concours’ competition.

Spectator entry is FREE!

Food and drinks available plus raffles and other attractions.

Rain may necessitate postponement of the event.

From brand new to even ‘basket case’ condition, your French car is very welcome at the Grand Display of French Cars! You needn’t be a member of a club or own a Citroen, Peugeot or Renault to participate - all French vehicles are welcome. There will be judging in various categories. Your car doesn’t have to be in ‘concours’ condition to take part. However, if it is, then there’s a special ‘Concours’ competition for you!

For the ‘Concours’ competition, we’ve snared Russell Ewart as specialist ‘Concours’ judge.

Russell A Ewart - Retired Telecommunications consulting engineer, Aircraft engineer and Project Manager.
Russell has an eclectic approach all things automotive and aeronautical and to the people who do their best keep their cars as pure as the original designers intended them to be.
Russell has been a member of several car clubs including Porsche, Audi. Ferrari, Jaguar. He is currently Vice President of the Mercedes Benz Car of Qld with two classic Benzes, a 1971 w111 280 SE 3.5 Coupe and a 1977 450 SEL sedan.
Russell has owned many Renaults (R16 TL & TS) and Peugeots (404 & 504).
His association with Ferrari is in having a significant collection of early Ferrari models and memorabilia.

An entry fee of $10 per displayed car applies.

A $10 surcharge applies for the ‘Concours’ competition.

Rain may necessitate postponement of the event (but the forecast looks good at the moment!).

Venue is A-OK for GDFC

I visited the Murarrie Recreation Reserve this morning after picking up the trophies and certificates. The rain overnight and this morning has done little more than lay the dust and freshen up the grass. Everything is in place for a great Grand Display of French Cars on Sunday!

Great day, perfect weather, decent coffee, very well organised - the Renault boys know how to party :headbang:

No camera so I hope others will have pics of the day, caught up with many good friends - my trophy goes to the Wilson family who almost had a display of their own, great effort :citplak:

Cheers
Chris

Agreed, 'twas a good day, glad to catch up with yer Chris.

I didn't get many pics either but there was a guy called Fivedoor walking around with something that resembled a bazooka, he should have a few.

Seemed a little down on numbers this year?

I don't know the numbers but yes probably down on previous years, I guess the earlier date caught a few out. I know a few that still expected the date to be closer to Bastille day as in previous years.

Cheers
Chris

The site is so flaky at the moment(compounded by my pedestrian speed internet connection), took forever to load the above three photos. Not in the mood for patience. Might try later with the rest

Missed you and a few others there:)

I came early and left earlish, started to feel bit off colour. Been sick all week, today was the first day I was feeling bit better. I did manage to catch up with JR and 59Floride, kept an eye out for GreenBlood but missed him also.
