My partner and I went there early afternoon, lovely day, gorgeous location, stunning collection of cars.
Even the car park was good car spotting - C5s outnumbered Corollas or Hyundais which is unusual... And there was a stunning light green R16 TL in the car park too, I almost bought a used one in the 1980s and every time I see one, I regret I have never owned a 16.
My personal highlights... Meeting Pottsy and Giselle in the flesh and the metal respectively; Seeing the stunning blue GSA with friendly owner; a brief look at the burgundy red Xantia (a very elegant car for their period); admiring many DS and 2CVs, and chuckling to myself that, standing in the lemon scented gum-lined driveway, the most "common" (most of a model present) car was 2CVs, which is amazing for such a rare car in this country and speaks of its timeless appeal (my partner asked me if they were 1950s cars, was very surprised when I said they were made until 1990). The beige GS wagon was a highlight too - my partner loved its practical yet beautiful shape and big windows. It's been featured here on Aussiefrogs, hasn't it?
After admiring the gorgeous, recently restored blue and grey DS Safari wafting past, I spotted a couple of Simcas in the distance, so we hurried across the lawns to see an immaculate (cream and green?) Vedette and a white Aronde sedan. My partner wandered down to the edge of the dam and fell for a white 205 Si parked nearby, saying "this is such a lovely car, I could have had one of these, when were they made?" Then we admired several 504s, a trak yellow one particularly caught my eye, there were several others, all fabulous. There were also stunning 403, 404 and 505 models. I can never decide if I prefer the looks of the 403 or 404, they are both timeless beauties.
Then off to the Renaults and Alpines... Renaults were a bit thin on the ground when we were there, might have been more earlier?? The two that really grabbed me were the yellow R8 Gordini rally car with Kay rent-a-car sponsor's ad on the side, what a stunning car; and the gorgeous white award winning Caravelle (or Floride?? - sorry!) with the friendly chatty owner nearby.
Congratulations to everyone involved, it was a big success. as a Frog car nut who no longer owns a Frog car, it was great to get a Frog Fix and to meet several very friendly proud owners.
I might be a classic Citroen-phile but the modern Alpine 110 really is a great looking machine...there were four or five of them there, in addition to a couple of the originals.
