Well, it's finally happened - I've brought dad over to the dark side - he's looking at getting his first Citroen. We went to look at a BX19GT for parts on the weekend, a car that had only really done a clutch, as well as a few hydraulic niggles, and he's decided that it's far too good a car to let go to the wreckers, and he wants to save it.

However... this means making some space at his house. He's already advertised his 2.2L twin-cam '81 Laser (I shit you not - offers invited, it's an absolute rocket), but to appease the family powerbroker (mother) the CX on the front lawn has to go by this weekend, or it's no go on the GT.

All offers will be considered, even if you just want to come and take the car. It still drives, as long as you don't mind the whole trip in 3rd gear... wink Might be a bit easier just to tow it. It's still in very tidy shape both inside and out, hydraulics are fine, but it's gonna need a new C-matic (or most likely just the torque converter, if you have one). Could be worth the effort just for the plates, which are CX2400. The car is in Lilydale - if you're interested, drop me an email, ASAP!!

Hi Ash....No..I don't want the CX but I posted a notice on aust cit bulletin board about a cheap CX 2400...might even have a good torque converter!!
How's the DS23 going??...did you get it up and running??....welcome to the world of BX's...I got myself a BX wagon and am loving it!!!!
Cheers mate
Regards
Andrew citroen_ cheers! whip

Andrew! Long time no see! BX wagon, eh? who'd have thought it! This is my second BX - did you ever meet the famous red 'quikbx'? wink

The DS is coming along -very- slowly... Looks like we'll be getting some oversize bearings to replace the ones that were obliterated... aside from that everything else looks in tip-top order. There were a few cracks in the head, and I've managed to get my hands on a couple of CX heads that should (maybe?) fit, so might use those instead.

As far as fixing the CX goes... it all comes down to space, you see... Of which I have none. If I had the space (and the time), I'd be willing to give it a (fourth) shot at fixing it, but if we want this BXGT, it's gotta go, I'm afraid...

never did meet the red quickbix!! I was using my 2CV to go to Camberwell market but the poor thing was getting abused...along comes a BX wagon which I intially was getting for my mate Greg...then I fell for its charms..have now done over 1,000kms trouble free motoring...perfect load carrier and saves the 2CV and DS for special moments...
Did you ever find out what caused the bearings to shit themselves??...how could it happen...I thought the engines were near bullet proof!!
Is your band still gigging?...every time I go home from Camberwell I am tempted to drop by..are you still there??
Hope to see you soon
Cheers
Andrew cheers! whip citroen_

Hi Andrew, no, not around that area anymore, I've moved up to Brunswick (so unfortunately not within walking distance of the club meetings anymore!). The band is still together, although we're not doing too much at the moment - BX has had short bursts of workouts as a musical equipment carrier!

Still not sure what happened with the DS, but hopefully won't be too long before she's back on the road.

By the way, the CX has now found a new home, if anyone else was... *cough* interested... :)

Guess who was the sucker that can't help but take every CX offered to him :D

She safely sitting at my house in Ballarat now.

Er, it's did sound like I was ungrateful. However you should see that last two I dragged home roll_lau roll_lau

This ones a Concours car in comparison. And I really do thank Ash for offering this to fellow enthusiests (on this list). He could have with a lot less effort just rang a Citroen agency in Melbourne who I'm sure would've taken it off his hands... Above all, lets do what we can to keep as many of these cars in nice condition !!! It's only gotta do good for them in the long run.

The more I look at this car, the more I think I'm gonna have to do a lot of work on it and get it upto a really nice standard ... I never liked C-matics but this one met with approval from Ang.

She likes it's colour, she likes the fact it's quiet (anyone driven in a rattly BX) and likes the fact it can't stall on her. Infact she said she'd drive it if I got the gearbox working dance dance dance head_ban head_ban :D

Once she's used to driving a CX, I should be able to get her driving the CX turbo, then the D's ... Man the sky is th limit!!

seeya,
Shane L.

Good to see you got her back ok Shane! I must admit, it was with a twinge of sadness that I watched the car disappear down the road, and then again when I saw the pictures you put up, but I suppose one can only have so many fish to fry! I'm hankering to try out this GT....

So, no problems on the drive back? wink
