Would like to hear all you experts opinion on what would be the best - unseen.
1) see also <a href="http://www.oldtimercentre.com.au" target="_blank">www.oldtimercentre.com.au</a>
a 1990 405GR with 248000 km ($7450.00)
"as good as anyone can show me with 100000km  (did I see that gold tooth glitter?)

2) 1989 405 1.9L auto with 160000km $6990.00
also from a trader.

 Think about it and note your thoughts...

Not answering the question I know, but neither sound like great value or good enough to consider purchase "unseen"

In fact, purchasing any car "unseen" is not really a plan IMHO.

I'm not familiar with a 405 "GR" being sold in Australia... I seem to remember the lineup early on being the 405, 405 S, 405 SRi and Mi16 etc. Could some one clarify this, as if it really is a GR it might be an import from the UK or something like that.

If of course, I'm correct (which I'm not completely sure that I am). shy

Just wondering,

Do 405s normally rattle like a bucket of bolts? I was in a 1989 405 auto, and the plastic in the dashboard just "sang" all the time.

You hear the stories about crap plastic in some of these French cars, and you don't realise how true it actually is :)

Cheers,

Justin

Pug307. Not crappy plastics just that you can disassemble a car with 2 hands....and that's it! :D

Still, a lot for an old 405, my friend paid $2500 for a 1989 405 GR, with central locking, electrics etc, ok, only a 1.6 but still.

I've even seen GRs go for $1600!, STIs with leather for $5500. Some of these cheap GRs even have AC.

$8000 would have to be a Miiiiint Mi16 IMO, even then I've seen Mi16s go for $4000 imported.

I feel like such a fool buying pugs at these prices when my friends in the UK are picking up Mi16s for under $1000 sometimes!
