The 1987 factory convertible pocket rocket that was never sold in Australia. Excellent mechanical condition. More than $5500 spent over the last 12 months on new 1.9 litre GTi engine, clutch, radiator, starter motor, immobiliser and more. Great interior. Roof does NOT leak. No rust. Service history and receipts available. To deter would-be thieves, it even has stickers stating "WARNING. This car is protected by an explosive device" on it. Just don't park it outside a US or Israeli embassy!!! Registered to Jan 2003. A regretful sale due mainly to the fact I've just purchased a 206 GTi with moonroof... Plenty of pix available to those interested. $8200 or near offer.

pardon me for resurrecting this advert from the archives, but i would be interested to know whether this cti was ever sold (or still on the market... i dboubt it).

Is this the same cti that Steve owns? eek! disappro

Hi Guys, yes this is the one that I now own. I drove it back from Sydney to Perth and have done a fair amount of additional maintenance on it since.

It may very well be up for sale again as I've bought a radical 205-MI16 head_ban

If anyone is interested in it, please drop me an email..

Cheers
Steve

Is the roof noisy at high speed?
Has the gearbox got the same gear ratios as the GTI 1.9 litre?

Can you take some photos?

The roof is obviously noisier than a hardtop but I wouldn't say excessively noisy as it seals quite well.

The CTi that I have originally had a 1.6 motor in it (replaced by the previous owner with an Aus spec 1.9) and therefore still has the close-ratio 1.6 gearbox in it. This makes it nice and zippy in/around town and when accelerating, but a little tedious on longer trips :)

Here is a photo - if you're really interested, shoot me an email and I can send some more

Boy did you get me into trouble. :(

My girlfriend caught a glimpse of the CTi picture, she loves the 306 CAB, 205's but realised that she (a) couldn't afford the 306 and (b) wanted a convertable. She was looking at an EXA with the targa top.

Now all she wants is the CTi....... :D

How can I break it to her she doesn't even have her Learners yet??? eek!

BTW really like the car, it looks great.
