Can you do a tune up at home on fuel-injected cars?

My R25 is running rich (I think). Can this be ficed at home, or does it require the services of my friendly, local mechanic?

If the latter, is it a simple procedure requiring minimal outlay of CASH???

If my mates 21 is any kind of guide, you could have problems...he spent a fortune on getting his motor to behave. Three "Renault specialist" mechanics worked on it. Two owned 21's themselves. The last one fixed it by swapping the sensors from his functioning car into the dud car one by one..he fixed it. I guess no one has the diagnostic gear designed for the vehicles.

Of course if it isn't a sensor problem then this won't help.

If you could find someone with a functioning car who is prepared to play the swap game then you might have some joy cheaply.

Yes definatly,

if you don't believe me, checkout my website, and look under DS21 ie (injection electronique).

If your really stuck, don't ask me, Alan S is your man, he just needs to make his son stand in one spot long enough to ask him the questions

If you can find the manual for the injection it'll make life extremely easy. Basicly you need to test the wiring, temp sensors, check for vacum leaks downstream of the air flow sensor etc... There's also an idle mixture adjustment screw on an injected 25. It requires a big alan key to adjust, don't touch it until you know it's your problem though.

Also check for thing like leaky injectors etc...

Denis at French Car Care at East Brisbane has the Renault computer to plug into your 25, and has a good knowledge of these cars and has wrecked a few, as well as having a fleet of 3 himself. I wouldn't say he was the cheapest, but for knowledge of them in Brisbane he would be hard to beat. You may spend a fortune with someone else for them to teach themselves of the traits of the 25
