Disclaimer.

This WILL raise eyebrows and will cop a fair amount of hate. There will be plenty of people shaking their heads as to why I've done what I have done. If you don't like textured paint, this isn't for you. If you don't like rat-rods, this isn't for you. If you don't like teenager ricers built with parts from eBay, this difinately isn't for you.

Ok. For over a year I have wanted to build a ratrod styled car. Think Matt paint in a horrendous colour, lowered, steel wheels, white walls and other bizarre additions. About 10 months ago I had a 206 with a really beaten up body that i bough that was perfect, except the AL4 was absolutely shot. Plus after finding some interesting wiring "repairs" under the dash, I cut my losses and got rid of it. I then set my sights on a 206CC as the base car. Ideal car would be 1.6 auto with cloth interior. Fast toward to 4 days ago, I was notified by a work mate that a 206 CC 1.6 auto with cloth interior had been listed on car sales. At a very inviting price. I couldn't believe my luck. 22 hours later I was driving said car back from werribee to my work. It drove beautifully (apart from the holed exhaust). The auto shifted perfectly but the body work had more hits than Elvis and I dodgy repair to the LHR quarter. Perfect for what I wanted. Over the next 2 days after work I brought it back up to near perfect mechanical order. New middle muffler, new thermostat, new dipstick, new oil filter housing seals, new cambelt kit, new seals, major service, new seat rails for LHF seat, new speakers front and rear, new clips to hold the door trims on and adjustments made to the folding roof. Quick trip down to Vic roads and it was in my name. Wooo.

Onto eBay and order some parts :)

First one was some colour. My 307 demanded a lot of care and planning and time to get it to the standard that i wanted. The 206 isn't that. So i ordered 4L of camo green tub liner. Yes, tub liner. Yes, I've painted the car exterior in tub liner. Next step was to order some more tub liner but in a dark red for the steelies that are going on. I've also got yellow transparent wrap coming for the front fog lights as well as a massive rear spoiler. Full ricer mode good for at least 36 street cred points.

The first step was to remove the doors and sand back the jams. Kick plate was masked along with tyre placard on the other side. Hinges also masked and this paint is thick.

Next step was to sand back and mask the inner sections of the door. You can't see all the surfaces when it goes back together but I like to know that the liner is there anyway.

Both the kick panels and tyre placard masked and sills and Quater have had first run of sanding.

This is the first "bodywork" I have ever done.

Front badge disassembled and painted in various layers of chrome shadow paint. Trying to remove as much chrome from the exterior as possible.

The rear tail lights, fog light and top brake light have been spray tinted, they will be dry in the morning and as a darker shade they won't stick out as much with the new colour.

All right. Here we go. This gives a good idea of the colour. Will be interesting to see what it is like in the morning once it has dried. The door jam that i did first dried before I went home. The feel is bizarre. It's not a texture you expect on the outside of a car....

Tail lights, fog and brake light all done. Have had multiple issues with adhesion which I am working through. Much learning taking place ....

like it's been driven through a pile of vomit and had the windows and lights wiped down - quite a look!

neat work / keep going

I dislike this sooo much that I love it! Can’t wait to see the end result — I may vomit in the ecstasy of the reaction [emoji2957]
