Hey Derek!

The iMac's going fantastic! Thanks for asking!
(Although, i'm not a complete convert, considering i'd been using the G4Cube for a while!?)

Will give you a call within the week

:)

Good to see a number of Clio sports in Brisy. Last week end Cal, Brad and myself were at QR for a run what you brung day and there was a Clio sport there with a few mods including about $4K of suspension (coil overs etc).

Next time they have this meet on I will post and inform all as it only costs $65 for three timed sessions on the track(9 laps). It also would be a good chance to speak to this guy. Sorry I can't remember his name? can you brad?

Neil

P.S
Keep touching base here as I will be organising another cruise for the Froggy ppl of Brisbane. Don't worry, the choice of roads will give everyone a good chance to try to keep up with me (within the speed limit of course:))
dance

You are a funny one brad!

By the way the new suspension goes in on the weekend feel free to call by.

Awww, shucks, thanks Dave blush

This is the main page with other AF cruise pics. <a href="http://www.users.on.net/lincolnr/AF/index.htm" target="_blank">http://www.users.on.net/lincolnr/AF/index.htm</a>

Haha, no worries Lincoln!

I have to say, if there's one motto i believe in, it would have to be "give credit where credit is due!" (unless it's a mobile phone bill....coz' they don't deserve my credit!! The slimey bastards! cry )

They were pictures very well shot! Hope we can have another drive day again soon to see you all & make some more quality pics!

:) Later!

Another link about chips.

<a href="http://www.dansdata.com/hotchips.htm" target="_blank">Chips.</a> .

Here's one beautiful quote:

Rice boys ahoy!

If you drive an automobile with suspension so low you bottom out on a white line, spray-on low profile tyres, a muffler that adds 1% more power and makes an obnoxious noise, a wing the size of a surfboard that does nothing at less than 150 km/h, patches of carbon fibre that may be real or may just be stick-on laminate, stickers advertising Japanese "racing teams" with odd names, a stereo the size of Tasmania that requires eight extra batteries and gives the car the performance of a 1962 Beetle, neon illumination of random componentry, a gigantic
fluffy thing dangling from the rear vision mirror, and unwarranted logos, emblems and other accoutrements from the top-of-the-range version of the car, then an after-market upgrade chip for your stock motor is another fine wank for your collection.

If you don't, a plain chip swap is lousy value for money.
I haven't had a car chipped before, but I have read quite a few articles casting quite a bit of cynicism on these chips.

Does the hype live up to the reality?

Cheers,

Justin

You may want to check out a mag called GTI. It is a Tuning magazine for French cars.

I was in a Local Newsagent just down the road from me, and I couldn't believe they had a copy of it there. I first discovered the Magazine in New Zealand last year. Didn't think GTI existed in AUS but apparently it does, I'd say it's only available at some Newsagents, although I'm sure you could get them to order it in for you.

Mag just covers hotted up Pugs, Cits, and Reno’s

Mag is a bit dearer then you average magazine @ $13.50 but that’s about the going price for imported mags these days.

Which reminds me, i have a CD on my desk for you. Give me a call next time your near town/Chippendale and you can drop by.

Hi all,

I'm in Melbourne and have a Black Clio sport phase 2. Stock standard except for cruise control.
The engine has done ~5000kms and I have enjoyed every single minute.

My 4 - you mention that you have the Repeller cruise system, how do you find it? I have a Eurovox (I think) and it is basic, but decent, with the controls on the steering wheel. It isnt integrated into the odometer though and the light is down near the interior dash dimmer wheel - I have to look down away from the road to see if is is engaged or not!
The installers also did an untidy job and seem to have left a little man armed with a small hammer in the dashboard - he creates a ruckus when I drive around town wink . I have to get the dealer to sort out the rattling plastic.

However those are just minor problems, my overall experience with the Clio has been excellent. It offers good performance, handles the twisty bits like a champion and cheap to insure.

Till next time

Nim

p.s. Seems like there are a couple of Mac users here in this thread too. Any suggestions about connecting an iPod to the Clio's stereo? Besides replacing the head unit.

Nim,

I've got an iPod and use it in my Pug 306 with one of these: <a href="http://www.ccrane.com/fm_transmitter.asp" target="_blank">http://www.ccrane.com/fm_transmitter.asp</a>

It works really really well.

The other alternative (just released) is a Griffin iTrip: <a href="http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/itrip/" target="_blank">http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/itrip/</a>

It is sold in Melbourne by Streetwise for $95: <a href="http://www.streetwise.net.au/product_info.php?products_id=1308&osCsid=51674ae21b7461819c767aa038d2e2a8" target="_blank">http://www.streetwise.net.au/product_info.php?products_id=1308&osCsid=51674ae21b7461819c767aa038d2e2a8</a>

They're in Glenferrie Rd Hawthorn, and hopefully they'd let you try it out to see if it works. It's had good reviews on some of the Mac forums, but I think the CCrane unit I have is easier to use (just a bit big). I put my CCrane unit in the glove box and just have the cable dangle out into the centre console where I put my iPod.

Hope that helps :D

Derek

Derek,

I have a 30GB iPod and from what I have heard the iTrip does not fit it properly, waiting for Griffin to release an update.

I was told that I can get an RCA to 3.5mm adaptor and use my CD changer connection. Am trying to look into this option. I am also looking at mounting the dock somewhere on the dash.

Thanks for the info and link to Streetwise software, I have dealt with them before and the boss is a good bloke. How do you find the CCrane's user controls?

till next time,

Nim

Nim,

Lucky thing having the new 30gb model! I've got the 'older' 10gb model...

I find the CCrane unit to be a breeze to use: 3 buttons, on/off, frequency up (by 0.05mhz) and frequency down. There is a line level input adjustment on the side.

Batteries (2AA's) in it lasted me almost 6 months with regular usage so you can't complain there. It's about 100mm x 100mm x 20mm thick. You don't need to put the aerial up in the car, I just leave it folded down.

I think shipping was US$20 (2 day shipping time) so it was US$100 total, and I had it in two days. I find it great - you can use it for anything with a 3.5mm socket than you want amplified, whether it be a CB radio, a TV, a discman (for some odd reason?), a computer where you can't get a cable across to the stereo. All sorts of uses!!

I've also been known to transmit iPod music to friends driving nearby :D Depends how close they are though.

Derek :)

Hi People,

I own a Clio Cup 3/85 in Odyssey Blue. We generally organise a Cliosport drive day every 2 months or so through yahoo groups Oz_Clio_Sport.
Think there is another coming up on the 30th. All welcome. Always a great day.

*always wave to other Clio's*

Hi everyone,

I have a Clio Expression 1.4 manual. Had it since Jan 2002, one of the very first batch I think....

Already got a few mods done.

changed to a lightweight alloy 3.5 kg at each corner (standard is around 8kg each)

lowered the car on Eibach springs.
rides, corners miles better than standard springs.

no engine mods.
Hello there Clio 172,

Just a question. How much was the eiback lowering kit? is it both front and rear spings (and is it the eibach pro-kit or the other one?). just asking 'cos i have a friend with a clio sport here in melbourne who is wishing to upgrade springs.

cheers. luan :)

Luan,

They are eibach sportsline...springs are red in colour. cost is $550 + $180 fitting.

good investment IMO.

cheers

Hello Clio 172,

Just wondering how much are your set of alloys and tyres? What's the brand/model/size/offset?

Thanks..
