AM6 Wrong Transmission Fluid

PSA Euro 4 = 9730.AF = JWS 3309 = Toyota ATF T-IV = Penrite ATF FS or MHP

PSA Euro 5 = 9734.R7 = JWS 3324 = Toyota ATF WS = Penrite ATF LV

WS is a low viscosity ATF specification. T-IV and WS are not considered to be interchangeable.

The going rate for ATF WS at a Toyota dealer appears to be around $60 or $70 for a 4 litre container.

Back in the days of the Volvo/ Renault I was attending a service school for the then new Renault 19. When the bit about servicing /refilling the auto with its complications I suggested to the instructor that this would be the beginning of a heap of problems in the future.
At the time there was nothing complicated about servicing auto trans on the majority of cars.

PS. The preceding tongue in cheek remarks about oils and tyres. Don't be surprised if this doesn't occur in the fine print already.:wink2:

All dw10bted4 am6 use jws3309 spec and need Toyota T-IV semi synthetic fluid or penrite mhp is a direct replacement of Toyota T-IV semi synthetic. We rebuild these when people use the wrong fluid type.

If U use full syn ATF meeting jws3309 in the above models or series one of the gearbox, rapid internal wear will occur.

Later dw10cted4 from 2011 or diesels that have the RHH engine code use jws3324 spec or full synthetic low viscosity fluid or harsh shifting will occur and or premature failure of valve body if the jws3309 spec oil is used

Same for the Al4 transmissions, they were made to use semi synthetic ATF and we use the penrite mhp which meets the LT71141 specification perfectly as well as being semi synthetic.

A lot of the other fluids that are synthetic say they meet or exceed the spec but they are a multiple model or Universal fluid and are proven not to be compatible due to premature wear and failure after their use. And not being compatible with the seals and bands used within the gearbox.

So for best operation and less wear and to avoid premature failure use the jws3309 semi synthetic In series one ,am6 gearboxes and later types from 2011 use jws3324 low vis full synthetic ATF fluid. And In the Al4 use LT71141 semi synthetic fluid

This is a topic that never goes out of fashion! What about the 4HP20 in my Xm? Is Penrite mhp the right stuff for it as well?
Also, is there a Total synth/semisynth fluid that meets LT71141 spec?

Hi.

The data sheet for the Total FLUIDMATIC DVI MV indicates that it is suitable for both the Aisin JWS 3324 & JWS 3309. Similar dual suitability for the Toyota T-III, T-IV and also ATF WS. Refer to snippets below.

But according to post #23, JWS 3324 & JWS 3309 are not interchangeable, one (JWS 3324) being a low viscosity oil.

According to post #25 Frenchiemech34 specifically says to use the semi-synth JWS 3309 oil in the AL4 and series one AM6 gearboxes up to 2010. But the Total Fluidmatic DVI MV is not a semi synthetic oil, so should it be used in the AL4, and series one AM6?

The Penrite ATF MHP is a semi synthetic oil, suitable for Toyota T-II, T-III & T-IV, and according to #25 is a good choice for AL4.

Also according to post #25 Frenchiemech34 specifically says to use JWS 3324 (low viscosity) oil in the later AM6 gearboxes from 2011.

So based on the comments from post #25 the Total Fluidmatic DVI MV is not a good choice for both applications?

Cheers.
