All,

I am building a 505 at the mo...with twin DCOE WEBBER's on it and all that other nice stuff...but the question I have is what size Alternator would be the go for this car ?
I am planning to throw a stereo system at it...
All I have in the shed is a 40amp I think thats a bit too small ?
Soo any advice would be good !

Cheers

Ben

You would probably need a minimum of 55 amp. Some 505s have a 55 amp Paris Rhone alternator, but for my car I used some kind of 55 amp Ford Bosch alternator, which is almost identical externally to the 504 one (I think it's from either a late model Cortina or a 70s Falcon or something). I just had to change the front cover so it would bolt onto the 504 engine. To fit the 504 front cover, I just had to get some longer long bolts for the alternator (an auto electrician gave them to me for nothing).

if you are lucky enough to find one stick a 604 70amp one on it
or there is a bosch one that puts out 85amps that you can make a rear bracket to fit

Found a fully re-built 70amp from a 604.....should do the job nicely approve
