Just been sorting out a bunch of old crap I've saved over the years and I once more stumbled upon the Renault Alconi parts shot. Oh how glorious!

Now I've just noticed, are those inlet ports, in the head at least, joined or is it just a crap photo and shiny surface? It looks like the wall between the inlet cylinders has been removed for extra volume / flow.

Anyone have any idea how far this extends into the cylinder head?

Hi Bowie :)
Great find. Particularly for ZAs :)
The 1108 motors originally came out with the siamesed inlet ports. It was only later the 956 head was used by the factory on it, as it had the individual ports, and gave extra compression as a 'performance' head. I guess the 1108 was such a big power motor after the 965 they thought 'no need for anything fancy now we will save a franc or two' :) :)

Ah thanks for that Jaahn. I had realised the early heads where like that.

I'll stop imagining an 810 with giant siamesed inlet ports
