406 Coupe revival

Ok, I've gather up the bits and pieces to seal up cam seals and replace the timing belt.

Reading through the manual, there is a tool mentioned for getting the correct tension on the timing belt. It looks expensive!

There seems to be cheapy versions which measure tension by deflecting the belt with a spring loaded plunger - but I am thinking a small spring scale pulled at 90 degrees would be more sensitive (although some high school trigonometry would be required  ).

Or could I just do it up "tight but not too tight"?

Cheers,
Andrew

Sorry can't help you but am very keen to know manual are you using Andrew? We have only owned ours for a short time as so far all the work has been done by Salman.

Hi Stephen,

Manual is probably not quite the right word. There is a section of the 406 coupe club web site with heap of really good write ups of common tasks, including timing belt change.

Cheers,
Andrew
