Gee XTC206 it must be fast if it has the number 747 in it.

I know the biggest selling Merc CLK (I think? the small) convertible is a CDi (turbo diesel) due to European taxation on emissions....

I don't think the 2.0 406 coupe would be that slow. Even the 3.0 v6 isn't going to be a ball of lightning.

Speaking of lightning every time I get out of my car I give myself the *biggest* electric shock at the moment, as I go to touch the door to close it. At night, the spark is so big it makes a flash of light. Ouch disappro

They even put the 2 litre motor (as well as the 2.2 litre petrol and 2.2l diesel) in some 607's for parts of the Euro market, XTC. All comes down to taxation issues.

There is quite a nice little review of the diesel powered coupé at <a href="http://irishcar.com/peug406cpedslbb.htm" target="_blank">http://irishcar.com/peug406cpedslbb.htm</a>

Makes some unflattering comments about BMW 320's by comparison along the way too. wink

The Irish site is actually worth a look for other current models as well. see <a href="http://irishcar.com/bgpeugeot.htm" target="_blank">http://irishcar.com/bgpeugeot.htm</a>

7.4 secs to 100kph and 19.something for 0 to 100MPH are the figuires for V6 406 coupé by the way. Not a "ball of lightning" maybe, but certainly respectable enough.

Cheers

Rod
