One of the trusty 405srdt wagons is leaking from the front of the diesel pump.

I'm going to try getting the pump out without disturbing the timing belt, and replacing the front pump seal and rear o-ring without disassembling the pump.

Anyone tried this before?

This thread may help you out:

I did this job a few years ago. Yes you can bolt the sprocket for the timing belt in place so you don’t have to remove the timing belt. Mark the position of the pump before removal as that sets the timing. Also cut down a 10mm ring spanner as one of the bolts holding the pump in place is challenging to remove. I paid someone to rebuild the pump so can’t comment on how hard it is to replace the seals.

Hi Luke,

Great - that means it can be done!
Got started yesterday, and found the tricky bolt could be moved with a half moon spanner. Also had to make up a little puller (two long 7mm bolts in some 5mm plate) to get the sprocket to let go of the shaft.

Cheers,
Andrew

bit late now, but well done
those circular spanners are the ones for that job
the older pumps used to come with the puller on them
its basically the same as what you made up but properly machined
I got one online from germany

haven't refurbed a bosch pump but they are quite approachable
one of the reasons theyre so well liked
there are videos to guide you too
