oh ok thanks i suss that out ,thxWhistling? Vacuum leak from a split or disconnected hose? The large air hose at bottom right of the image I posted may be split somewhere. That is common. Or the noise may be coming from a failed diaphragm inside the engine / rocker cover. There are other threads on that possible problem. The turbo itself on this engine lasts very well (even if the wastegate lets it down), but it needs proper lubrication and so it's important to change the oil on time and use the correct type. You might want to check that too.

Yes, the turbo coolant pipes are not shown in the previous diagram as that's only for the turbo and the lubrication. The cooling pipes at the turbo would look something like the diagram below (#8 and #10), but that's not likely to be relevant to your complaint.mine is water cooled
david i tested the carbon valve it opens up to the hose that goes to inlet manifold but that hose that goes to the pipe near the turbo will u know what that is for please,thanksWhistling?
