Hey brains trust…

Has anyone else had the instance where the heater fan in their 306 has been on flat stick once the ignition is on, despite the controller being being set to off?

I’ve tried changing the blower fan unit under the passenger side of the dash with another from the wreckers and even tried another controller to no avail.

The only way to stop it has been to pull the fuse.

Thoughts?

TIA, Jase

Have you changed the resistor? I think when it fails it fails to open circuit and hence the fan running at max speed

Hey Matara,

Thanks so much for replying to this.

Sadly, I suspect this only applies to the models that don't have air conditioning as a little search on ebay for the replacement part seems to state that the part is only for non A/C cars. Plus, the air inlet box in my car doesn't look the same as the one in the video. :(

I was excited for this to be the solution since my car is a 2001 model!

The search continues.

Mine has climate control and air (1998 XT 1.8 16 valve) and occasionally it goes nuts, running flat out, then it remembers its manners when I switch it from the 'auto' setting to manual and back again (fan switch).
