306 GTI brakes onto 306 style

You'd need new discs, calipers, brake lines etc...but it can be done I've read on forums in the UK. Get some GTi DBA slotted rotors and greenstuff pads and gti calipers and should be all good. Will need minimum 15" wheels though.

And might as well go the whole hog and get the ABS system in there too, unless it's a prob with fitment becoz of the turbo.

ALso check this thread: <a href="http://www.aussiefrogs.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=8;t=000372" target="_blank">http://www.aussiefrogs.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=8;t=000372</a>

turbopeugeot306:
help! too much power with sh1t brakes! who knows how to swap the gti onto a style?
Are you building the drag car or street car?

For drag car I would reduce the brakes to almost non existent to reduce the weight.
If you are going for the street car try some 1st class pads.
Pagid, EBC, Hawk etc spring to mind. Use hi-quality brake fluid (Dot4+).

ABS is a nice touch to add to the car but you could also just do what race drivers do, use the right foot selectively. No ABS in race cars :D

Is that what you wanted to hear?

nice car , not my cup of tea but very nice.

In the wet I'd find ABS to be very useful as I've had some close calls, probbaly just the crappy Certis I have on+full car and rain doesn't help.

The standard pads are decent and stop well from 160km, but on cruises I've found them to get hot and fade is noticable. You could try out some new pads first and if that isn't enough get the GTi brake setup.

Hey I just did the GTi6 brake swap. I have a 306 XR and the standard brakes were craptastic.

I swapped the whole front struts over but also the lower ball joints are a little bigger on the GTi6. Luckily i had all the parts to do it easily.

ABS...pfffft i dont want that crap so i didn't put it in. Too mcuch weight. We also changed the complete rear end tyo GTi6 spec so its got rear disc too :)

Neways its easiest if u buy the whole assembly but i dont think GTi6 brakes will be enough to stop your car. Have you though bout getting sum Skyline GTR brakes or custom made Harrop's? How bout HSV R8 brakes they are meant to be really good. Itll work out cheaper than getting GTi6 brakes neway :)

im new with the technical side of brakes. wha is involved, parts specific, to fitting gti, or if it is not a problem and they will fit, some gtr or r8 calipers and changing my drums at the back to disks?

Hey im not god with specific tech stuff.
Check the trading post section Andreas is selling his brakes from his 405...they are Willwood brakes and shold do the job nicely for your car :)

Here u go dude

This is a pic comparing standard XR brakes and driveshafts with the GTi6 ones. Standard ones are on the left

And the GTi6 ones are on the left in this pic

im not looking to replace the driveshafts, as i would like to brake them first and replace mine over and over again, rather than getting gti ones and my gearbox going. the willwoods, do they fit mine? if so, how much and where are pics? and how do u change the rear drums to discs

There is a uk site that stocks parts. Amongst them brakes.

There is an upgarde for the 306 for approx 1200POUNDS.

Its a kit to suit the 306 from TAROX.
