306 Clutch

I only purchased my car a month ago and at the time, the clutch only moved 2 inches b4 it hit the floor. I was having a play with it the other day and i pulled the pedal and it moved out a couple more inches. So now the pedal moves 4 inches b4 it hits the floor. Is this some undocumented feature because i would like the clutch back to the way it was b4(maybe not so close). Can i adjust the height somehow?

as you tighten your clutch cable the pedal will come out further, so if you adjust the position where the pedal comes out, then tighten the cable it will be in the correct position

Are there any sites on the web that explains how to adjust the pedal height? i had a look at the pedal but couldn't really see anything adjustable. Is there some spring mechanism that holds the pedal closer to the floor because when i first pulled it out, it sort of popped out like some spring or seomthing was holding it down.
