Hello,

I'm having a little worries with my 205 - the ignition seems to be breaking down when the engine gets hot. I don't think it's running excessively hot but a little higher on the gauge than it used to.

The battery light on the dash has been glowing a bit for about the last two weeks when driving at night. last weekend I checked the battery voltage which did drop to just over 12 when started, but at an accelerated idle went up to 13.8.

So a little suspect on the alternator, or the ignition coil.

anyone else solved similar problems?

thanks,
Simon

i wouldn't worry too much about the battery light (glowing slightly). it tends to be a leak somewhere in the electrics.

when was the last time you changed plugs, leads, and coil? how many kms do u have on the car?

if the breakup in the ingition is from idle to 3500rpm, checkout this post:

Check the Bosch ignitor has a heat transfer compound between itself and the aluminium heat sink. It dries up over time, resulting in the problem you described.
