Most people complain about the performance of the 205 Si but don't realise that nearly all of them have had their ignition retarded to allow the use of 91 octane fuel.
My latest Si had a bad flat spot down low so I went to see Colin Stark at Alpine Affair and borrowed his 20 year old scanner in order to check out what advance my car had and to adjust it back to standard.
After being used to Megasquirt it was an eye opener to use this old device but I did find the ignition had been retarded 2 degrees and after setting it to standard the car goes much better.
I did two other cars, one was 2 degrees retarded and the other 8!
If you want to check your car out you can book it in to Alpine Affair for a check and reset, could be very worthwhile.
Other Marelli ECU cars, 306 8 valve and 405 SRi S2 can also be checked and adjusted.

Is it possible to check/adjust this myself?

I reckon the si was detuned so it wouldn't embarrass the gti... :)

Yes, if you have the correct tool. Drop in on a Peugeot dealer, they may have one lying around as Colin did, he had to search to find it though!

Hello Graham what should the setting be for a 205 Si running on premium fuel?

The most advanced, the numbers 2 4 etc are the amount of retardation. You will know what this means if you get the tool.
