Hello all
Its my first Peugeot and well i dont know much about it. My main question is to do with Gutmann.
I can only find limited information out there in German or French. Could someone point me in the right direcion. I'm interested in finding out if my little 205 is really Gutmann spec or if i have been had. When I get a chance ill put some pics on.

I want to try and make it as original as i can so other pics would be great.

Cheers

There is an english language book called Sporting Peugeot 205s by Dave Thornton that you mat still find at specialist motor book shops.

Guttman did a line in 205 8 valve turbo and 16v conversions as well as making a whole host of "visual tuning" kits like redsigned front grilles (there is one that has a frame with mesh (see attached) side skirts (it should be obvious if your car has skirts on it), rear wings, colour coded bumpers and alloy wheels. They also made a set of "turbo look" flared gaurds that tried to look like the 205 T16 (doesn't look quite right in my opinion - see attached) and double fog lamp conversions for the front air dam.

Guttman also made aftermarket exhausts (I have one on my 205). The turbo conversions were supposed to be done on low km engines as they apparently put quite a bit of load onto the 8V motor (they must have done other things like lowering the compression ratio) and the examples I have seen in books have an inlet plenum (it can't be a rocker cover can it?) with Guttman script cast into it (See attachments).

Could be a private UK import? I have never seen one in Sydney

Look forward to seeing the pictures.

Hey burkey. I actually have the book that mybok mentions, signed by Dave in fact. Got it when I was living in the UK. Try Autobookworld in the city or Peugeot Club NSW if you want to track it down.
Is your car an Si or GTi? Gutmann did a body kit that I mostly saw fitted to a few Si's here (I owned a non-Gutmann 92 model). They were either done by Peugeot Oz as a limited edition, or by the dealers - can't remember. You could also get things like exhausts, wheels, spoilers, and maybe springs from memory. Gutmann did a few other things for 106 and 306 in the UK, but I'm not sure what they're up to these days with the newer models. Hope this helps!

Man you are one lucky SOB if you've got a full Gutmann over here!

I' trying to chase down a Gutmann front valance, but can't find suppliers anywhere. Anyone got any leads?

OK got the attachments to work - they had to be coverted from CMYK to RGB in photoshop. Sorry - you learn something new....

Hey,

The only "gutmans" i have seen have been an SI with a bodykit on it!

Was it a dealer option?

Thanks for the help all.
From what you guys have all said i think that i might have only the body kit. It is a 92 SI. I'm the fourth owner i think.

ill have to wait till i get it back from the workshop on monday to find out those answers

here are a couple of pics that i hae of it.

not too sure if the mags are right they seem a bit modern to me

Hi burkey,
Welcome to aussiefrogs and Peugeot ownership. Nice car - looks like a clean example from the outside. I believe the wheels are off a 306 but others on this site will be able to answer that better than me. The car looks like a rally edition but again I'm not certain and others will be able to give you definitive answers. Hope it runs well and brings you many :D .

those are 306 wheels which came with the n3's i think.
they go quite well with the 205.

that is one nicely styled 205, very understated, you don't really need all the guard flairs,etc... all you really need to do is put the GTi engine in it :D.

About the wheels, as others have stated, they were the optional N3 306 mag wheels, but i think they do go well on your 205 the more i look at it

lol I'de love to wack a GTi bad boy in there, i think the mags are cool

Im not too sure how far the Gutmann thing goes, its got a sticker on the front bar then one on the back,

i cant get the pic on the front to load cause it is on the 205 decal thread

hi burkey,

welcome to AF mate.

i remember seeing the add for you newly owned 205 si for several weeks on carsales.com.au

its a pretty neat ride youve got with painted bumpers and pretty much painted everything!lolz

from those shots, it did not look to be a "gutmann special" et all - only a stocky 205si with a (i think) gutmann rear valance and sideskirts (maybe).

if it were a gutmann special im sure the owner would have been asking stupid money. and the exterior kit is incomplete.

gutmann kits (both spoiler kit and engine mods) were never available to the oz market through our dealers (what a shame). but obviously for some miracle youve got one (however much i dboubt it), i'd be tossing off on the bonnet already!lolz

nonetheless, its a good looking 205 youve got. good luck and congrats:wink2: .

Taylors of Medindie in Adelaide did a GTi with a Gutmann body kit way back in the early 90's, it was a dealer fitted accessory when the car was new, so I'd imagine other dealers may have done something similar.

ahhh simon didnt know that. thought all oz fitted gutmann spoiler kits were personal imports.

lol, i'll know where to go if i keep getting dirty a bonnet pugjet. :wink2:

they wenr pretty nuts with a spray gun.. every thing is white.

i think the kit was a dealer option. ill have to do some research.

nah they're a bit rounder than the 405 ones. the 405 are squarer and recessed a little near the rim i think?
