Just a thought, but at $17,000 thats exactly what it will stay.

I have a question to go with this... sort of. If i have the '90 205 gti with the reverse bottom right, and the early car, 75kW. Does that mean i have the perfect combination of diff and box? Or was there a better type of gearbox after mine?

Yes, sounds like you have a BE3 gearbox with a 75kW engine and 3.94:1 diff.

Fantastic!!!! Did you ever have problems with the brakes on the xantia? we have the station wagon one and they shudder when braking slightly at high sppeeds

Just sounds like a bit of runout. You may need them machined. Get the wheels aligned and balanced at the same time if you haven't done so in a while. BTW I'm jealous of your 205 no matter what combination of running gear it has, so enjoy dance
