Anybody know if the 14" 205 alloys fit 'properly' on a 405 SRDT.

They fit OK. The 205 offset is a little different to a 405, but since the 205 14" wheels are 5.5" wide, you'll probably end up with much the same track width anyway. With 185 tyres the overall gearing will be slightly lower, but that's normally a good thing.
