2015 508 auto: gearbox fault repair required

Hi all

2015 508 SW 2.0L diesel automatic - began 'clunking' on moving off in Drive from traffic lights, problem got progressively worse until 'gearbox fault repair required' warning light came on and transmission locked in 3rd. Was a v hot (40C) day. After cooling off problem has disappeared and nothing shows up in the fault check. Anyone had or fixed similar issue? Vehicle has done ~135K and recently had major service by Peugeot dealer

Any/all help appreciated
 
Can you provide the OBD fault codes? I am wondering if there is a transmission cooling problem.
 
Dont have a diagnostic unit to get codes. The car's 'check' process reads no faults...
 
The check function only covers a small number of thousands of faults and invalid sensor readings that are logged by the system. It isn't very useful most of the time.

When the short message displayed a more detailed error code (or codes) would have been simultaneously logged by the transmission ECU and stored for inspection.
