Space, I thought you'd have space to burn in the country and line of sheds.I still think I'd like one of these if I had available space and time..Sounds like a familiar excuse.

Yeah well, I also have a long list of excuses. I've been tabulating all the lame excuses I see on Aussiefrogs as to why a project can't go ahead.Space, I thought you'd have space to burn in the country and line of sheds.

Hows your project going anyway Fivedoor..?
Bit late to this conversation. Yes - built four for a NZ contract - sent to Australia for assembly and were requisitioned by the government when the war broke out. To my understanding, one still exists - in my shed. Have all the paperwork proving providence. Not a modified car.Did they do a pickup? This one looks original.

Good one Simon, as usual! Thank you. Were the utes offered anywhere but the Antipodes?Advert
Only recently acquired the old girl. Have another project before I get serious. Previous owner (Kev) rebuilt the engine and gearbox (at considerable expense), brakes and suspension done along with wire loom, instruments and upholstery. Still some wood structure needing attention, rest is just bodywork. Hope to be on it by the end of this year. Will be painted in the original grey.Hi Mark,
That's remarkable. Is it under restoration. Such a rare vehicle!
That's great Mark. Good luck with it. I've never heard of another of these utes, personally. Given its vintage, it is the old sidevalve engine. Perfectly fine. It'll have lever-action shock absorbers I expect - just recently we've had a burst of activity on the related ones on Renault 4CVs and the only man in Oz to have rebushed one is in Adelaide. They don't wear out if they don't drain full so the seals matter. Shout if you need help there!Only recently acquired the old girl. Have another project before I get serious. Thanks John.
Not to my knowledge. Family immigrated to SA from Germany in the 1800's and went everywhere from there within a generation. My father (also a David, was born in NSW as was I). I now live in SA.Many years ago I worked with a Dave Borchard in the SA Dept of Mines. One of yours?
Just one of those coincidences I guess. Haven't seen the name for years! Thanks. You've quite a rare car there! Not to my knowledge.
