I don't have easy access to my paint chips (no idea where I put them) and poking around the internet I have had little luck putting a list together.

Was hoping the Renaults trusts out there might post what they have so we can organise our chips and codes a little.

I guess once we have something collated might be a good sticky, or even in the model specific threads.
Thoughts appreciated.

Maybe we lost some things in the big crash of the 2010s but there are a scattering across Aussiefrogs of things like this, so I'll start with an R8 paint chip chart from 1963, but I am not sure how useful these codes might be to places like Autobahn.

(NB not very useful) example;
CHAMONIX WHITE
99% WHITE,
1% YELLOW OCHRE, BLACK & RED OXIDE

but white, yellow ochre, black, red oxide all mean different things. Actual chips can be spectrographed on a paint mixer, but that isn't helpful if you don't have a chip.

What codes would be useful? Dulux, Dupont Berger? The old school tint's formulas don't seem that useful unless you have an old school paint specialist.

The 10S was introduced in May 1970, and were the final batches of R1190 Renaults assembled in Australia.

Colours: Alpine White, Barossa Red, Bathurst Blue, Daffodil Yellow, Sunburst Brown, Tannen Green. The black side stripe being a delete option.

Alpine White ??????????
Barossa Red ??????????
Bathurst Blue ??????????
Daffodil Yellow ??????????
Sunburst Brown ??????????
Tannen Green ??????????

Based on the excellent work by Simon on Renaults in Australia and the book of the same name by Tony and Pedr Davis, the models and their derivatives assembled in Australia were:

760 or 750 (1949 - 1962)
Prairie/Colorale (1952-?)
Fregate (1952 - 1958)
Dauphine (1956 - 1963)
R4 (1962 – 1966)

R8 (1963 – 1970)
R10 (1966 - 1971)
R16 (1968 - 1977)
R12 (1970 - 1981)

R18 (1980 – 1981) -------- Really? I didn't think R18 and R20s were assembled here.
R20 (1980 – 1981)

Yes R18 and Series 1 R20 were assembled here.

I had both - an 18 wagon and then a very late series 1 20. Both were Australian assembled.
My series 1 20 was one of the last Aussie cars, apparently it had some Series 2 components which caused headaches when getting spare parts. Must have been made up out of whatever bits they could get their hands on?
Great car, it had 480,000 + km on the clock when I sold it and it had more life left in it, engine/clutch/gearbox had never been apart and was still perfect. Some rust though.

how awesome it would be to have an R18 wagon. I wonder how many (if any) survived?

I loved my 18 wagon, I was a little disappointed with the seats (not as supportive as the tombstone seats in a 12) but otherwise it was fantastic.
My new partner at the time (now 36 years together) drove a 78 Corolla and thought he didn't like driving because the Corolla was so fidgety / wandery on the road and exhausting to drive any distance. After driving the Renault 18 on a country drive for a while he said "it's so easy to drive, it almost drives itself. It just goes where you point it!" I said "it's called handling. That's why I like these funny cars." He's a convert, the magic of the 18 did it. Unfortunately I rolled it, so it was replaced with the 20. (heavily loaded trailer got severe swaying,it steered the car up and embankment and flipped the car.)

Shame, I haven't seen an 18 wagon (or sedan) for years.

The 20 was another level. It was sooo comfortable. We covered huge distances in that car. It felt like it was tailor-made to fit me. Super reliable, too.

What a timely post.

I've been after the Renault 341 "Alpine Bleu Metallic" and am struggling to come up with something for my local paint shop. Would anyone happen to have the paint code for this color?

Here's a list of the European Renault paint codes from around the period.
Unfortunately the descriptions leave a lot to be desired:
The whole list is about 650 lines so I just posted the ones from the 70's

paint code swatches and charts

I don't know if it's useful but I have a bunch of swatches I've been working with creating a DB of things.

I also have a few swatches of my own matching the colours of my Renaults.

I know I'm a bit late to the party, but might help someone find something..
may well do with it's own thread.

Hey Vivid. That's the bloomin lot. Well done. It's very useful. I can compare the colours of the oranges of 311 and 331

Glad I could help.. Google must be getting smarter..

Just did a search for "311 orange renault" and this page came up.
