C5X7 or C6 or DS4/5? Which to buy?

they are now getting to the age of requiring some refreshing
I hope you haven't jinxed my 2012 RHH C5. So far only annual oil and filter changes, a coolant change with a timing belt change, and one set of discs and pads have been done, in 12 years. All of them routine service items.

I haven't had another car need so little work. Just as well as I'm getting past climbing under cars.

The AM6 two piece drain plug is a good way to get the fluid in. Dipsticks started to disappear with FWD transmissions. Most cars use oil/water heat exchangers on autos today.

Thanks everyone for all your responses, but for the moment I’ve decided to stick with the Xantias. If the main/ blue one has a catastrophic failure then I will reassess, maybe just buy something new if that happens.
I’m a bit miffed that I can’t get the white one going again by myself (see thread about fuel pump replacement). I now have 4 days before I have to decide whether to pay its rego again and/ or whether to have it trucked off to be repaired. Trucking it off to have the multitude of faults fixed would be cheaper than buying another car, but it still leaves me with the problem of NLA parts and nothing younger than a 25 year old car etc.

Such a beautiful thing to see, these well cared for cars - well done! Re rego, I often suggest to other owners if they’re not sure or in transition with the car, to renew it for 3mths and that can often buy time …

Hi Bruce - just to let you know that we have a DS4 D Sport which we have loved for 3 1/2 years but recently listed it for sale here on Aussie Frogs as it is just becoming too expensive to maintain. However I have just tried to withdraw the ad because it has once again developed a problem with the engine that we have spent a lot of time and money on at Dodson's French Car Specialists here in Adelaide trying to fix. Very frustrating but I have also been told these Prince 1.6 turbo petrol engines are notorioulsy problematic. When the car goes well it's great, when it goes into limp mode going up a hill it's not great! If anyone thinks they have a solution to the problem I would love to hear it...otherwise I think we will have to sell the car at a loss to someone who is confident they can fix it, as the rest of the car is in VG condition and as you noted way back in this thread, these cars are very rare. Cheers, Tom

Tom, start a new thread, describe the DS4's problems, symptoms, any fault codes you have, and see what suggestions appear. Most of the usual EP6 problems have been discussed before. There are always solutions, just not necessarily cheap fixes.

OK thanks David!

Not sure if FB marketplace is easily accessible for everyone here, but what a potentially nice 2008 C5 Series 1 this could be for $4k …
