    Default HT leads

    Hi Guys,

I need to chase up a couple of sets of HT leads for CX's with twin transformer leads. Yep, you can buy them on ebay, but I'm very hesitant to spend 100quid + postage ..... for only four little bits of wire

I ordered in the correct kit from Top Gun ($69aud is reasonable)

    CX2500, with 2.5 Ltr - EFI to 1985 4 2500cc TG4584 MAX4584 - -

    Kit TG4584

They didn't have the moulded on plug extenders though. I rang them up and they said "the leads are wrong" .... They looked up the build sheet and said the ends were 84mm .... bugger me, that sounds right

So I asked them what the code is on the build sheet as they now list the components on there website.

I was told it's SPB102 ... as you can see it's not a plug extender at all. SO there's little point in trying to order in another kit.

I've tried to do some measuring (sadly without any original lead to measure as I chucked them years ago )... and I reckon this is the plug end we need.

Has anyone tried ordering the bits to make up there own leads through topgun. I rang the local autobarn store and they had no idea what I was talking about "we might be able to order in individual leads ...

    Shane,

Give the guys at Thundercords in Sydney a call.

They sell magnecor leads and are very helpful.

I had a look at the magnecor leads website, it appears they don't make the leads. They do ( incredibly ) specify the car in the catalogue but just list it as "refer" rather than list a lead kit.

I'm not sure, I'll google "Beru" and find out who they are. You can buy them .... There's just no way I'm paying 100quid + postage for 4 HT leads.... That's insane!

Stop thinking about it as "just four leads".

Start thinking about it as "what your car needs, for the ignition leads to be sorted".

I'll take a racehorse over a high horse any day.

NGK and Bougicord both offer sets, with tax around $100 plus postage.

They do Where on earth did you find them I was going to make up a couple of sets locally if possible as I quite like the topgun leads. Bougicord are best, there the right colour and the right size for the cable retainers.

You might be confusing them with the sets for early cars that have plug extenders like the DS's and Renault 16's. Those types of sets can be made just by visiting your local auto-parts stores and matching lead lengths to the ones hanging on the racks.

As for "just buy the right ones and sort it" .... Those ones on ebay would about $190 delivered. Or $380 for two sets. Not in a million years do I have that sort of money to spend on 8 HT leads.

Well I went around a few places today. Surprisingly I found the WRX leads fitted the CX fine. obviously two leads were long and two short (being a flat four in the WRX).... I thought I'd grab them, imagine my shock when I found they were $185 Infact the most expensive leads at the local autoparts place by 50% (no doubt they figured they could ask a lot wrx leads.... there's only four, the 9leads for a local V8 cost less than $50 )

Everyone only really had the ford and holden leads, and everything else had to be ordered in (so much for going through there stock and seeing what was right). the local autobarn stores catalogue had the boot types etc... in the lookup book. I got them to look up the lead "components" on there parts system. Just the extender ends were upto $16 each (so that's $64 just for the rubber extenders, plus leads, plug boots + the ends that attach to the coils/plugs) .. Urrghh.... I might send off the exact specs to Topgun and get them to fix up there build sheets for the CX leads.

Anyway.... I found CX Basis of all places had the cheapest leads

    http://cx-basis.de/eshop/product_inf...oducts_id=4089

65euro is $80aud for the correct leads. I'll send the spec's to topgun when I get a set here. They should be less than $110 landed, which is still crazy money for 4 HT leads
