Here is some proof of what data logging, fine tuning and a well built engine can do to mid range torque. The 404 travels at 3100rpm in top , which is 0% throttle following traffic, 100% is wide open throttle where we can see 5 psi within 0.1 seconds. Within 1 second, 112 kph and 10.5 psi, 1.7 secs. 14.5psi or close enough to 1 bar boost and 118 kph. Within 2.2 secs. full boost of 18 psi at 123 kph. The air fuel ratio is rich at 12.14 but very close to ideal for max power. Several vehicles safely passed in 2 to 3 secs. without changing down or winding up a clock spring. The pulse rate, not shown here, indicates fuel delivery of 400cc or so a minute which roughly equates to well over 400 nm of torque at 4000rpm at 130 kph. Dyno time soon for proper measurement but as we can see in the data I won't be wasting time on a Dyno run up and a weakly tuned engine!
This engine is a standard Douvrin 2.2l with turbo, water cooled intercooler and my design in the entire exhaust system. A new cam made by Ivan Tighe Cams with my data and Ivan's knowledge. New twin valve springs, standard 9.2:1 pistons and Hastings rings. ECU is Link G3. That is where the logging data is from.
The engine really starts to growl at 3500rpm but idles like a watch. Cam is 30/70.
