How to tell difference between 205 camshafts

    Default How to tell difference between 205 camshafts

    Is there an easy visual way to identify the DKZ cam from the early model 205 camshafts?

    Measure the lift and duration. As far as I remember the DKZ camshaft doesn't have the groove for the camshaft thrust locating fork.

    Mmmmm..... i am beginning to think that the DKZ i purchased from a Member on here may not be a DKZ.

    Visually it has three grooves which makes me think it may be a non DKZ.
    Any idea of the lift and duration specs i should be looking for James?

    Off the top of my head I couldnt tell you, however stealing this from petert.

    I can't recall all the details but I know this (inlets):

    Si - 0.380" lift
    DFZ - 0.405" lift, 218 @ 0.050"
    DKZ - 0.445" lift, 220 @ 0.050"
    D6B - 0.445" lift, 226 @ 0.050"

    Not sure any factory markings are left on your lumpy stick Swain

    Some I've pulled have still got paint some do not ( but traces are visable )

    Scanners down so this is the best I can do off the hard file

    Cam on the top is DFZ (with thrust groove near pulley end). Cam on the bottom is DKZ. Note it has extra shoulders on the dizzy end to control end float. However, that doesn't mean all DKZ cams don't have grooves. Best to measure the inlet lift to be sure.
