    Default Removing interior/Registration issues

I want to strip as much of the interior as possible in the 205 but need it to be road legal. I want it to be bare as bare can be. What is the bare minimum I need to pass rego?

    De-mister?
    Heater?
Dash? I want to use just the main top part and remove everything underneath.
    Carpet?
    Rear seats? ( I think I can register it as a 2 seater? )
Do windows have to be glass?
Can I use bonnet pins? ( have a carbon bonnet on the way and dont fancy using hinges )
    Roof lining?

Dont want to remove everything and then have to put stuff back in..

Reg it first, then mod it? In vic seats can come out no probs, bolts need to go back in where seatbelts were to plug holes. Will then be reg as a two seater, so if seats go back in it needs eng report so I was told

Rear wiper assy adds a little weight, you could remove that?

anything that is "original equipment" must still be in place. heater/demister up front has to stay. cant touch the dash, it can be considered structural, and usually a point of failure in inspections if its altered (crash safety). you have to engineer the seats in the back to be removed, seatbelts go with them, cant go back from what ive heard when i asked. carpet underlay is ok to be gone. windows id imagine they would have to be glass, as whatever your putting in wouldnt be "ADR compliant"
The wrong oil is better than no oil at all.

    Hey Cam,
I'm fairly certain you just have to register your car as a 2 seater if you take out the rear seats.
That's what a lot of my "jap-spec" friends did...
I'm considering taking out as much as I can as well...it's cheaper than engine mods!

    Cheers

probably better to just go to your usual inspection station with a list, and ask.
whatever someone says they heard the rules are, you just need it to pass an inspection each year.

I think carbon bonnets are not roadworthy because in an accident a CF shard might slit your throat

Yeah carbon bonnets are a not go, that said heaps of people still use them. As for Bonnet pins, in NSW they have to be flush with the bonnet. That is, not poking up through it like traditional bonnet pins. Once again its a pedestrian safety thing.

Personally, I think if there is a person flying into my bonnet they have bigger problems than bonnets and bonnet pins. Its just another way to stick it to ya.
Lets just say we have a few pugs about!
