    Default oil temp BX

For those that read the cit board, you'll be away that I recently had a cracked sump, my solution...JB weld it...my question how hot does engine oil get?

Not when it's sitting in traffic for an hr on a 30 degree day, but just running up and down the hume hwy for 2 hrs
    120 degrees?
    150 degrees?
    200 degrees?

    Any thoughts let me know

    normal running 90-95
    working it hard 100-105
flogging it on the race track 110-120

why not pull it off and get it TIG welded properly? Or bolt on 2nd hand sump? Being PSA, there's plenty of XU type sumps around.

Several years ago, I was restoring an engine that had a deep (1/16") gouge down the bore where a piston ring had broken and eventually gotten caught between the piston and the bore and gradually dug a trench down it until compression became too low to start.

I filled the gouge with Devcon, then honed the bore and reassembled it.
The engine still runs perfectly and has great compression.

Moral of the story: I don't think the temperature that engine oil runs at will be a problem for any of the epoxy based repair systems.
