    Default 205 rear beam

Time to re-build the rear beam on my little pug.

Pulled apart a spare beam last night to find that the bearing were buggered and the trailing arm shaft are badly dimpled were the bearing sit.

I have managed to sourse new bearings, but the supplier does not carry the trailing arm shafts

Does anyone know where i could get the trailing arm shafts?

Are there other solutions? can the shaft be welded then machined?

Also i tried to press the shaft out of the trailing arm with out success. Might try again with a bit of heat. Any pointers?

    Thanks

    Mike

New shafts are available from Peugeot. Part no. 5176 17, approx. $210 each. A 10T press usually moves them easily. Are sure you're pressing correctly? You need to make up tooling to support them properly. Note they're 3mm short on the outside, when you press the new ones in.

Have a look at wheeler dealers on youtube. They take old cars do them up and sell them on. There is an episode where they do a 205. I think it is the second part where they do some work on the rear and demonstrate what your talking about I think.

    See how you go.
