    Default RHD headunits

I've been contemplating replacing my OEM headunit with an after-market bluetooth/USB capabable unit but would really like to find one with the volume control knob on the RHS.

I've done a search of all the major manufacturers but am yet to find such a thing.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Get something with a stalk remote control. If you car doesn't have a stalk, cobble up something with push button.

The way most of audio remotes work is a string of series resistors, short out the each resistor in turn to operate that function.

    Rob,

My 406 ST series one doesn't have a stalk, and the standard tape player - while nostalgic - would require me to sift through boxes under the house to actually find some tapes!

When you say cobble something up with push button, do you mean use one of the remote controls that usually come with new-fangled headunits?

No I was thinking along the lines of a wired remote. Many of these modern head units have a single wire remote control. This works by having a string of resistors in series to ground. Shorting each resistor in turn performs a certain function.

If you can get the data about the remore control, all you need is couple of push buttons to short out the volume control resistors.

Although, having said this, Jo Proffi has velco taped a wireless remote to the centre of his steering wheel. This seems to work and is a very simple fix.
