    Icon5 AVO Suspesion

    Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge/experience with AVO suspension components. They're from the UK.

I've been offered a set of fully adjustable coil overs for the front and rear shocks for a bloody good price.

Any comments/experiences would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

    Alex

I was also wondering if coil overs will make a great difference to the handling of the car. I guess that it would be dependant on setup, but just wondering if anyone has any experiences with these types of suspension set ups.

That would probably be the set i imported.
They're not bad, middle of the road quality wise and very popular over in Europe.
You'll be able to drop the car a huge amount, not a good move for handling but i did it for shows and got the rear wheel (actual wheel, not tyre) inside the arch, the pic below isn't at its lowest setting!

Fronts and rears both have damping adjustment, however the ride can still be fairly stiff on a soft setting if you go too low.
On a track it improved handling substantially, put the car on a bumpy road, crossing train tracks and hitting pot holes is another story though.
As with most things there's a compromise to be made.

Any excuse to post a pic

I have Avo's all round and find them very good. Best of all i get them serviced by the AVo dealer here in Brissy.
From memory he sells them for around $340 a corner.

I've just been to TSR in Slacks Creek to get a price for AVO's for the MX5. Should be around $1300 with springs. They are one of the cheaper in adjustable coilovers but good value. I'm tossing up now whether to revalve the Bilsteins I have or go the AVO's, They recon about $1000 just to revalve so for the added adjustability I'll likely go the AVO's. I'm also considering Tein SS but they are about $1800, though you can get this nifty device whcih attaches to the tops of the shocks allowing you to control all the settings while in the car.

rampant imports is great..my mates business he imports crates of new and used parts from japan. Im sure he can source some nice jap coilovers from Japan for a good price.
