    Default Graphite

A Google search reveals divided opinion but a lot of discussion relates to oil-based lubricant gunking up the works and attracting dust. Seems the solution is graphite powder!

    Default Graphite

Always used Graphite myself, with the cable removed from the car and hung vertical, make a small paper funnel around the topend fill it with powder and then I used wd 40 or rp7 to carry it through agitating the cable up and down until it appeared at the other end, every cable I have done this with has never needed doing again.
