Default 405 Mi16 S2 off to the track, what do I need to do so I dont kill it.

As I am new the tracking world and have heard tales of oil issues with the 1.9 I am deciding to find out what I need to make sure that 2lt wont die from being put on a track.

Anything I must do beforehand or any good recommendations?

    Thanks!

It's possible your Mi16 may or may not have a windage tray. These were only fitted on later models, from '11/93 from memory. I'd recommend fitting one (along with the four extended mains bolts) if not. Also add 0.5L extra oil to allow for the oil which will be retained in the head.

Add quality 15W-50 synthetic oil and don't push it if the oil temp rises unexpectedly.

Okay, so my list so far has.

Check for windage tray, fit is needed.
Drop oil and do a change. (What brand is recommended?)
Fit oil temp gauge with warning light.

Thanks for the hints so far Peter

Doesn't S2 Mi16 have an oil temp gauge?

Mobil1 from this guy is good value but you may find better without postage:

Thanks Peter. Seems shipping is not that costly. It also beats what I have been offered around this town.

It seems that my series 2 was made before 11/93. So time to find somewhere to get a windage tray

Well, I used the RCZ rather then the Mi16 as it was not ready yet. With rubbish tyres with 28xxxks n them I managed a best of 1:19.484. Not bad for a first try around there. The RCZ is fantastic on the track!
