    Default Help with R16 brakes

    Hi All,

I need some help and info on the R16 front discs. The type I have for the Matra is the early 16 ones. That is the ones with the 2 springs on top and 2 at the bottom.

My question: Do they have any rubber pads that lie on/between the caliper and the 2 clamps that flip over to keep them down before you secure it with the little pin? It will be like an anti-rattle rubber of some sorts.

If there are rubbers that goes in there, could someone describe them for me please?

    Regards,
    Frans.

I don't see any rubber parts but there is a spring clip...is that what you wanted?

Every day when I wake up I reach up in the darkness with my eyes shut and if I cannot feel anything that resembles a wooden lid I know it will be a good day. No lid today.

There are a couple of plastic "spacers" that perform a similar function to the rubber tubes on the R8/10 brakes.

    Pics are (hopefully) attached below.

If you need some, I've got four of them. Just PM your address and I can pop them in the post.

    Default R16 Disc Brakes

    Hi Frans

I have the same repair manual as 59 Floride, over the page in the manual it shows the two types of Bendix brakes and also the Girling type. Hope between the two of us we have helped you.

Hopefully second time lucky, I'll see if I can find a full complement of eight (for four wheel discs). Also note there are two types, an early type that gets brittle with age, and a later type that is more durable.

Thank you for the responses. It is like the ones in Simon's reply.

I noticed that there isn't a mark on the caliper that was made by the metal bracket, so I thought there must be something safeguarding it. Thank you Simon I'll PM you my adress and one set would be good as the rear brakes are the same as the R8s.

    Regards
    Frans
