Default 205 GTi - slack accelerator pedal

No its not lazy, but it seems to sit a bit lower than I would expect.
If I pull the pedal towards the driver I can lift it an inch or two.
Is this normal or is there a way to remove this slack?
Is the cable adjustable and if so how do I go about adjusting it?

    Thanks guys

There's a metal clip on the plastic sleeve at the throttle plate end that allows cable tension adjustment.

Do it with the engine running to avoid some unpleasant surprise.

There needs to be some slack though.

    Thanks for that Schlitzaugen.
    I'll give it a go.

As long as the round throttle cable guide is still coming to rest on the throttle stop and you can still here the faint click of the throttle position sensor you can take nearly all of the slack out of the cable by - as schlitz said - taking the metal clip out and moving it along the adjustment ferrule. Taking the slack out of the cable makes for near instant throttle response and can make a huge difference to the feel of the car.

A fuego characteristic that might be pertinent to your car too is they have more pedal movement than throttle movement.

Consiquently, at the extreme of settings there is either going to be slack at the 'foot off' position, or the pedal wont fully go to the floor before the throttle is wide open (WOT)

The latter situation is guaranteed to snap the cable in time, so it might be best to have an assistant push the pedal hard, and you in the engine bay setting the position of the wide open throttle to the same position.
Check it again in a few weeks then every year or so.

I dont agree that where the cable is set will effect throttle response. Maybe it might have a placebo effect for the first 2 minutes of driving until your brain adjusts to the change, but after the honey moon period is over its the same motor, the same throttle and the same driver.

What is important though is that at full pedal you actually reach WOT.

My warning is more to do with the fact that no slack at all might keep the throttle partially open. That is why I recommend adjusting the cable with the engine running.

It is normal to have more pedal than throttle plate movement otherwise you're guaranteed to not cover the entire travel needed.
