I would. Keep the standard engine/gearbox/ECU at the back of the shed. In order of fitting difficulty, not including wiring/ECU:

XU10J4R - exhaust bolts straight up, but ideally needs a lower top mount.
XU10J4 - exhaust flange is larger diameter & PCD, so needs 16V downpipe, ideally needs a lower top mount.
XU10J4RS - exhaust needs a wedge plate, ideally needs a lower top mount.
XU9J4 - needs shortened inlet manifold and exhaust wedge plate

Ask me off-line about lowered top mounts.

    Wiring/ECU
XU10J4R - only has 60-2 crank angle sensor, so can only be multipoint fuel and wasted spark
XU10J4 - has 60-2 + camshaft home trigger, so can be sequential fuel and wasted spark or direct fire
XU10J4RS - has 60-2 + camshaft home trigger, so can be sequential fuel and wasted spark or direct fire
XU9J4 - only has 60-2 crank angle sensor, so can only be multipoint fuel and distributor or wasted spark

    Mods
XU10J4R - can take up to 0.380" cam lift, limited by single valve spring
XU10J4 - can take up to 0.430" cam lift and can take approx 0.100" lift @ TDC
XU10J4RS - not sure of maximum cam lift, but shallow pockets limits cams to approx. 0.055" lift @ TDC
XU9J4 - can take up to 0.430" cam lift and can take approx 0.100" lift @ TDC

My favourite? The XU10J4 with either XU9J4 or XU10J4RS inlet manifold.
