Default Microsquirt Tachometer issues on Peugeot 504

    Hi all,

Just trying to get my tachometer working on my Peugeot 504 Turbo Project but I cannot get the needle to move. How do these tachos work, as fitted to a Ti?

For those who know the Microsquirt/Megasquirt computers:
Since getting my car running, I've tried both IDM output (pin 2 on EDIS module), pin 35 (tach output on uS) and even soldered up my own module with the three diodes as shown on the EDIS page on the uS website. None of these solutions has worked and I've no idea on how to troubleshoot or find out whether the fault is with the tachometer itself. Where could I start with this?

    Thanks!

If anything like a 205 tacho, the input circuit will have a filter, thus designed to only allowing the collapsing coil voltage to be read, approx 400V. You probably need to bypass the capacitor/resistor and feed directly into pin 1 of the IC.

Peter T each time I read a response from you I am impressed by the depth of your technical savvy.

You need to modify the board in the tacho.

Like I mentioned, the logic board has been upgraded. I suppose I'll ask the guy who did the modification to the board how to get it to work since he did the job...

A 504 tacho would be a bit old for that wouldn't it Peter?? Maybe not. See if the mega squirt can simulate the output of the oem coil . Or if there is still a single ignition coil, perhaps you could hook it up to that like standard? It depends on your setup.
Lets just say we have a few pugs about!

Thanks guys. I'm guessing the person who did the work on upgrading the logic board made a mistake, as the lights aren't functioning properly and the gauges were shooting around all over the place (I temporarily put another instrument panel in until that one gets fixed). I'll take it back to the guy who did the work.
