Default PSA "Bitron" Fan Controller Sensors

I'm seeking more detail here, about the maroon/brownish sensor that's usually screwed into the thermostat housing or a water transfer pipe nearby.

There are clearly differences with newer cars, based on physical connectivity (different plug/socket).

On earlier vehicles there are a few different listings. Does the behaviour of one sensor to another, differ appreciably? Or, if two sensors physically interchange (like threading) can it be reasonably assumed they will support each others' control systems? Also, does the probe length vary?

    Thanks, Adam.

I only know about the 1.9L Mi16 version.

Thanks Peter, that is a good baseline for any further comparison.
