Default Trafic 08 Automatic Gearbox Stuck in Neutral

    Hi,

I've recently bought a Renault Trafic 08 Diesel Automatic. The gear is stuck in neutral and won't change when I move the stick up or down.

Does anyone know what could have happened? Is it just a cable or solenoid?

I'll start by saying I have no real knowledge of the Trafic and its auto trans.

But it sounds like the selector is stuck, even if the brake pedal is pressed. Perhaps see if there is a poor connection to a brake pedal inhibitor switch. Then I'm wondering if there is an emergency unlock, for when the lever is jammed even if the brake pedal is pressed. On certain other Renaults, the selector lever surround can be popped up, revealing another button which is pressed at the same time as the button on the selector lever allowing the lever to be moved.
