205Mi16 racing at Eastern Creek this Sunday

Hi everyone. I just received this email from the Pres of the NSW Pug club:

"Who wants to join me cheering Owen & Adrian Wuilemin beating Jags in a 205 this Sunday at Eastern Ck from 10am. I will be there 9ish in the pits probably being a nuisance BUT having fun. Not sure exactly what time they go out and tame the cats but it goes from 10am to 'bout 2.30pm."

Owen and Adrian had the 205 double entered in the supersprint. They were both getting pretty much spot on 2 minute laps. They were mainly competing against each other. The final results for their class was Adrian first on about 1:59.5 and Owen a fraction of a second behind in second place. Third place in their class was around 2:04.5, so they blitzed their class. On Owen's last lap he had to hit the brakes pretty hard, because he was quite close to another car. The result was a huge flat spot on the right front tyre, so much so that the steel belting was sticking out. At first the sound of the steel belts hitting the road sounded like something much worse. Luckily it was the last lap of the day. The front tyres were close to the end of their life anyway.

Other cars in their class were hot Escorts, a Seat Ibiza GTi and various other similar cars. One of the fastest sedans was a VL Commodore Turbo which was averaging around 1:55. There were a few open wheelers which were probably a bit quicker than that. It was an interesting day with lots of Lotus sevens, hot triumphs, BMWs, Jags, etc.

I took quite a few photos of Owen and Adrian's car, so when I get the film developed, I'll scan them and send them to gibgib.
