    Workshop manual book

    Hi there,
Can you help me? I need workshop manual book for 505 series because I'm in trouble to overhaul my engine without guidance.
If I have to pay, how much it cost?
    Thank you.

I have a workshop manual, which I can scan into the computer, and email it to you. Which engine do you have?

    To Dave:

I noticed that you have manuals for 505's.

I have been chasing a 505 SRTD manual for a month or so, to chase down a no. of electrical anomalies in the car I bought recently - it is a 83 model, and some of the creative wiring has me foxed!

If you have wiring info available - I too would be very interested.

    Peter,

My 505 worskop manual only covers the petrol models, so I'm not sure if it would be useful to you.

There is a separate Haynes manual which specifically covers the 505 Diesel models.

    Thanks Dave,

I have kinda ordered a Haynes diesel manual from the Motor Book shop on King Georges Road, Blakehurst - been about a month now - no word yet.

Then I saw that Repco also sell Haynes books, they said that there is only a Diesel Engine only Manual, and a full Petrol/body manual, and if I wanted - they could order both - but that would not have the Diesel specific electrics of the Diesel 505 body etc.

One example of help I imagine a manual might give me, is how to remove the Heater fan blower?
From what I can see - if I made some weird clip removers - I might be able to get it out - but I have no idea how to put those little spring clips back on - I guess though that the petrol blower arrangement is the same - have you ever looked at a 505 blower installation - is this dealt with in the Petrol manual?

    Peter,

This is what the book says (word for word) about removing the heater fan blower:

    1. unclip the hydraulic brake pipes from the left hand side of the bulkhead

    2. remove the heater blower cover. The cover is made of very brittle material and care must be taken not to break it.

    3. release the air duct from the heater blower.

    4. disconnect the wiring plug

    5. unclip the heater blower and withdraw it from the bulkhead. On fuel injection models, the throttle housing and airbox may be removed to provide additional working room.

    6. refitting is a reversal of the removal.

There are no pictures provided with those instructions.

    Thanks Dave,

I will re visit this job (have another look at how likely it is that it can be done in such a simple way) and decide to tackle it or not!

If I don't think it is Do-able - I think a new thread may be in order to rustle up some experience from the Forum.

Thanks Dave you have been very helpful - I can't thank you enough.

    peter,
I noticed today, Continental Cars in Sydney have 2X Haynes 504 & 505 1970-1990 Diesel motor books on their shelf. They want $49.95 for them which seems a bit expensive???

    Thanks GibGib,

That sounds great to me - it might be a bit more expensive than Repco etc but thats OK if it covers the Car electrics and other mechanicals as well.

Do you have an phone no. etc for Continental Cars in Sydney - or is there only one such business?

I appreciate the you looking out for me and taking note - thanks

    Peter,

I have a feeling that the book gibgib was talking about covers the engines only, but I could be wrong.

Yeah peter you might want to call them first as it was a thinner book.
I didn't open it to check what is covered.
    These ones had red covers.
