    hot start 505 sli

my 505 sli wagon which i have just saved from the wrecking yard has a very weird problem
when the motor is hot and left for a short while it has trouble starting It takes a good 2-3minutes of cranking to get it to fire up it does this reliable every time
yet when cold it starts first time without touching the pedal
the car runs smooth and reliably well with no hesitation or coughing
it just won`t start when its warm
i have read the haynes manual but it is not much help when it comes to fuel injection on the sli(non eletronic)
i need some help this is getting me down it has to be some sort of sensor or switching devices thats not working
    please any ideas
    john

I saw a discussion about this problem on a US peugeot message board. I can't remember where it was but it may have been a link from this links page:

The SLi uses the Bosch K-jetronic injection system which is the most common type of mechanical injection. It is widely used on Volvos, Saabs, Porsches and many other cars. There are a number of K-jetronic specialists in most of Australia's capital cities. You should be able to find one in the yellow pages. I'm sure they would know what causes the problem.

Ask the guys at French Revolution in Texas, about this problem. The SLi engine (called the XN6) is very common in the US. Their website is:
    http://www.frenchrev.com/

Check out their chat room. I'm sure I saw a discussion about this problem in their chat room.

    Hello john
I am no expert on bosch k-jetronic mechanical fuel injection but do have a lot of experience working on cars.My freind had a 80's vw that ran a mechanical setup he had similar problems the ex bosch mechanic told me that there is a hot-start pulse relay i think it works by grounding the cold start injector and dilivers more fuel in pulses when the engine is started after warming up
the engine requires more fuel because of vapour in the lines.
    Hope this helps
    Murat
