    Default F1 - 2019 - Singapore - Ricciardo penalised for qualifying infringement

Daniels Ricciardo was penalised for Qualifying infringement and he is likely to start from the pit lane.

The infringement involves the MGU - K unit exceeded the permitted 120 kw's.

Apparently Daniel clipoped the kerb and this caused the infringement. The incident occured on his slower lap, not on his fastest qualifying lap. According to Renault hte benefit Daniel received was 0.000001 seconds, but given it did not happen on the fastest lap, the only impact it had was to push Daniel to the back of the field.

    Interesting turn around in Singapore.

Mercedes was expected to dominate at Singapore. Singapore is high down force track and Ferrari have been strongest on the fast tracks, but have struggled where higher down force was required. It seems that Ferrari have finally solved the problem, which has required the reshaping of the the nose cone area, the floor and diffuser at the rear of the car. They have been working on these developments and testing them in pre race practice sessions for some time. It looks like they have finally solved the problem judging by how they dominated at Singapore. The run to the end of the season could get interesting.

Lecler qualified on the pole and was leading the race, when Ferrari unexpectedly called Vettel into pits first and to his gredit, he put in a blinder and achieved under cut on Lecler and won the race. Lot of controvery of how and why, but understandably Lecler would feel cheated by the team as a result. First win for Vettel in ages.

Dan Ricciardo managed to climb ahead of his team mate after the qualifying penalty, but small clash and a flat tyre hurt him the second time. Singapore is notoriously difficult place to pass, so Dan's effort prior to the flat tyre was top shelf.

Lewis managed to ruin Valtteri's quailying lap by passing him forcing Bottas to back off at the start of his lap, but it made sure that Bottas did not outqualify Lewis.

Both Ferrari and Merc had deep and meaningfull meetings after the race and publicly its all been sorted out now, but I expect both Lecler and Bottas to take opporturnity to square the ledger if the opporturnity arises.
