Last Tuesday a meeting was held in Paris between FIA, Liberty Media, current and potential future engine manufactures of F1 engines discussing plans to change engines rules.
The current 1.6 engine will continue
Rev limit will be lifted by 3000 rpm with view to improve the sound of the engines.
Abandon the complex motor generator - heat unit (MGU-H) system.
Make the Motor Generator Unit - Kinetic (MGU-K) more effective driver to use it more than current is the case.
Fuel regulations to be tightened (not sure if this means fuel formula or regulating fuel usage)
More regulations to limit design of the engine with view to control costs
Aim is to make the engines cheaper.
My understanding of engines is that generally increasing engine revs, will increase fuel burn and increase power, how will this play out with the current fuel usage limits in place.
